Let’s learn from Covid-19

Letters

SINCE the turn of the century, warnings have been given about the powerful effects of virus and influenza’s.
Such diseases have killed billions throughout human history.
The black plague and Spanish influenza are among such diseases.
Various governments understand the seriousness of these diseases and have established agencies to study them and find cures.
Much has been done to understand these diseases and many lives have been saved.
The world is still vulnerable to deadly diseases. .
Millions throughout the world have died and millions more are suffering from the effects of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
At this point, we don’t really know how those infected with the virus would be affected.
The side effects of the Covid-19 should be studied well.
Many say the Covid-19 originated in China.
Word is the Chinese authorities had recognised this virus in 2019.
Just as other responsible governments, China did not ignore the Covid-19.
It (China) studied the virus.
China, just as any other country would have done, was protecting its information and waiting to see what would happen.
Most countries did not prepare for a Covid-19 outbreak.
A few countries such as Singapore, Thailand and Israel did.
Other countries made the right move by purchasing personal protective equipment and investing in the development of vaccines.
China was operating based on its own interests and so was the US.
Controversy arose regarding mask wearing, health and safety regulations, who should be vaccinated first and how businesses should operate amid the pandemic.
We should learn from this pandemic and know how to plan better in the future.
