Let’s reduce alcohol related accidents

Letters

I AM not a medical person but I agree with the statement of real facts by the medical professionals which was published about a week ago regarding medical resources including staff being over stretched and overworked by alcohol related incidents happening during weekends.
May I suggest just one remedial action to be taken?
For a start, humans always want to socialise and this we cannot deny but people need to do it in a civil and responsible manner.
When people are not drunk or just beginning to after dunking a few, they still have some sense to understand things better but after a while when they have gone past the magic six then things start to go off track.
So I would like to stand with the medical team and do some awareness before we start to take drastic actions to tighten up on this never ending issue.
This is what I personally suggest and it’s only my personal view which is open for discussion, criticism regarding to how people see fit to either add or subtract.
Before any detailed plan awareness, can the medical team come up with the following as listed below.
Write letters informing all hotels, guest house and everyone that are involve in the entertaining arena and add the following:

  • Records all alcohol related injuries coming from these areas;
  • put up picture and posters at these places notice boards or at the front doors so when people are entering will have a look for themselves and will know the consequences;
  • list down statistics and rate of alcohol related death or injuries;
  • After every weekend on Monday, the two dailies, as part of their contribution and public awareness through the media can help without any cost publish factual figures of such injuries or deaths so the public can see nationwide.

This maybe a small idea but it will help big time and in a long way by stopping unnecessary deaths or permanent injuries. We never know, a person can loose their God given life though accidents.
By carrying out awareness, one can make good judgment and may leave early or just simply don’t go party during the weekend.
Same to the youths out there.
You may not be the instigator or culprit but when you are at the wrong place at the wrong time you, you might get caught up in brawls because everyone go mad when drunk.
I leave within the vicinity of such places and I’ve witnessed such happening especially on Wednesdays till Saturdays.
