Help local firms:
One must be wondering why most of the contracts, even a million-kina contract, is being given to Chinese companies. Why is the government talking about promoting SMEs and yet overlooking PNG-owned local companies? Prime Minister, can you and your government come up with a policy to involve PNG companies and ensure that the policy is implemented? It is about time something is done.

SHP admin job:
More than 21 candidates have applied for the Southern Highlands provincial administrator’s job. I appeal to the Department of Personnel Management to screen and make the appointment based on merit.

Risky trips home:
It is a bit late to catch a PMV back home if you finish work at 5pm, especially if you are living in Lae’s West and East Taraka, Igam and Bumayong. It is risky for women to be at the public bus stop from 4pm to 7pm. Things have been especially difficult since the Bumbu Bridge was damaged. Please help us. Can the governor and the city authorities provide a safe bus service for public servants?

Expensive deal:
I am proud of Digicel’s network and wish to commend them for providing a reliable service to remote areas in PNG. However, there is criticism. Digicel’s credit scheme which involves loaning credits to customers, is expensive. Customers who loan K1 worth of credit, for example, pay back K1.43. This loan interest rate is much higher than the rates charged by the commercial banks. Can the government look into this?
