PAPUA New Guinea Lewas (women’s national cricket team) players Brenda Tau and Ravini Oa are in the United Kingdom after being selected for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s Global Development Squad playing a series against the English Women’s academy side.
The pair were selected on their recent form and are benefiting from the ICC’s increased investment in women’s cricket.
They join promising talent from around the world to compete in the T20 series.
Overnight in Cranleigh, England, they bagged up their first win with a seven-wicket victory. The English batted first and finished on 9/66. Oa, opening the bowling, ripped through the English top order taking 3/10 off her two overs to set the scene.
In reply, the squad had no trouble reaching the target with some patient batting passing the English score in the 14th over, three wickets down.
