Lift certain restrictions

Letters

MUCH has been said about the Covid-19 lockdown and the impacts of the government’s state of emergency (SOE).
While I appreciate the effort taken to make it safe for everyone, some SOE approaches are knee-jerk reactions.
For instance; PMVs and taxi services have been suspended while markets and stores are open.
There’s still crowd and close contacts there, no difference.
In fact, disruption of bus services has caused great distress on many private sector workers who cannot afford to go to work.
Then liquor shops, pokies and track race outlets been closed (a great loss of government tax).
The virus isn’t caused by drinking beer, playing pokies or running track race.
Washing hands and keeping social distance should be enough.
Then we have the curfew at nights.
Makes me wonder if the virus comes out only at night and disappear during the day.
The curfew makes no difference but big waste of resources, considering the high costs of imposing it.
What the Government doesn’t know is, while they are trying to address one issue, they are creating more issues and problems to themselves now and everyone are suffering.
Be realistic!
The least we expect to continue happening is more and more people losing their jobs because of no buses, businesses laying off staff due to SOE restrictions and scaling down of businesses operations.
To rub salt to the wound, in such times when people fear for their lives and turn to seek God’s help, most churches in the city have closed their doors due to SOE restrictions.
Come back to reality and lift some of the restrictions.
What is Covid-19 compared to the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob whom PNG signed a covenant with?
The God who raised Lazarus from death, walked on water, turned water into wine, stopped lions from harming Daniel and part red seas?
Stop activating fear and activate faith.
Stop magnifying the virus and magnify God!
