Patients suffering

Letters

I COMMEND the Madang Covid-19 response team for its efforts to establish mechanisms to identify and arrest the invisible enemy (Covid-19) when it reaches Madang. However, while everyone including our doctors, nurses and support staff are concentrating on Covid-19, Modilon Hospital is on scale down and our TB and other inpatients are dying.
Even the special consultation clinics are closed and patients with curable diseases are too scared to come to the hospital since the state of emergency (SOE).
Perhaps because the main gate is closed and the back gate is the entry point to the isolation centre within the hospital area.
I beg the chief executive officer of Madang provincial health authority or the SOE controller for Madang to take stock of the situation.
Organise rosters to allow medical staff to return to their respective wards and clinics to continue to serve the population of Madang during the “scale down” and SOE period.
It is also evident that there are too many hired vehicles for the Covid-19 response team on the pothole-ridden Modilon Road.

Yabwain Mok,
Madang
