Lift standard, referees told

 EASTERN Stars franchise owner Joseph Ealedona has called on Telikom National Soccer League referees to lift their standard.

Ealedona called on referees to be vigilant as the competition goes into the final round.

“I am making this call because we were not happy with the standard of refereeing in our last game against FC POM, which led to frustration from our players,” he said. 

“Our goalkeeper was clearly fouled and was on the ground when their corner kick went into the net yet the officials claim they did not see it.”

Ealedona said franchise teams were sacrificing and sponsors were committed and it was incumbent on referees to seriously look into their conduct on the field and be consistent in their decisions.

“It is very frustrating when teams prepare well for the games and they are robbed because of poor refereeing,” he said.
