THE Kimber Court House has launched a security project in the form of six solar-powered lights.

The project is part of an ongoing extension programme funded by the national court. It engaged contractor Life Easy Tru Ltd to set up the security lights.

Resident judge Ellenas Batari announced the launch to mark the start of renovations.

He said it was time to change the colonial structure and improve court facilities.

He also appealed to the government to consider upgrading the Bialla court and establish court houses in Cape Glouster, Gasmata, Bali Vitu, Kove/Kaliai and other rural areas on the southern tip of the province.

Governor Sasindran Muthuvel confirmed that 10% of the provincial support improvement programme fund had been budgeted for law and order purposes and assured people that the court house facilities for the other areas mentioned by Justice Batari were catered for in the 2013 budget.

He also asked the secretary of the national judicial staff service, Kapi Sarohafa for an additional residing judge for the Bialla court house.
