Lightweight champion Kauko to face Kagili in exhibition bout

NATIONAL lightweight champion Raka Kauko Jr will face Thomas Kagili in an exhibition bout in Port Moresby on July 31, according to Oceania Fight Promotions (OFP).
OFP director Maryanne Millie said the event, featuring nine bouts, would also see a light heavyweight fight between John Decklam and Peter Oaike.
“I want to thank all our sponsors for supporting the event despite the hardships they’ve faced amid the Covid-19 pandemic,” she said.
“I’d like to thank the pandemic committee for giving us the approval to host the fights. “We haven’t hosted any fights since late last year and it is great to see the return of professional boxing.” Patron Ben Micah said professional boxing was developing in the country.
“Boxing is progressing,” he said.
“More local and international fights are being planned. The July 31 fights will help prepare our boxers for the big one at the end of the year. One of the biggest international fights coming up is the World Boxing Council-sanctioned Asian title fight between Kauko and Philippine fighter Roldan Aldea.”
