THE Port Moresby Basketball Association has been cleared to tip off its season after meeting the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation’s (PNGSF) Covid-19 criteria, according to an official.
Competition manager Patrick Ani told The National on Friday that the Taurama Aquatic Centre — where the association holds its matches — had been cleared for use under strict guidelines.
The association met with team delegates on Sunday to discuss registration and the competition’s back-to-sport guidelines.
“We have been granted approval by the PNGSF’s pandemic management committee to tip off our season,” Ani said.
“The association recommends all players, officials and spectators to download and follow PNGSF’s Covid-19 protocols. The hygiene practices outlined in the document are to be strictly adhered to.
“We will make sure that players, officials and participants are familiar with the protocols and competition guidelines.
“Only essential participants, including team and match officials, should attend the games. The size of gatherings must not exceed the Government’s guidelines.
“There will be no sharing of equipment, clothing or personal items by players and officials.”
