Limited funds affecting road projects: Nali

WORKS Minister Michael Nali says there is a huge backlog of road maintenance around the country.
Nali was responding to questions from Karimui Nomane MP Geoffrey Kama on the deteriorating status of the Gumine-Kundiawa Road which served four districts in the province.
Kama said it was a sealed road and declared a national highway but due to the lack of maintenance, it had gone from bad to worse.
Nali said other roads were facing similar situation because of the lack of maintenance over the years caused by limited funding.
“We currently have a huge backlogs of road that need maintenance to be cleared but the problem is that we have limited funding.”
He said for the Kundiawa-Gumine road, he would instruct the provincial works manager to carry out maintenance work immediately.
