Link PNG’s Dash-8 aircraft to operate Tokua airport

AIR Niugini will operate its Link PNG subsidiary Dash-8 aircraft to and from Tokua airport, East New Britain, as the National Airports Corporation conducts runway works.
The airline said in a statement that it hoped to resume its Fokker jet services as soon as the runway maintenance was completed. “The shortening of the runway means that payloads are heavily restricted, even for Dash-8 aircraft, and as far as possible the number of services into Tokua each day has been increased in order to partially address this reduction in available capacity,” the airline said.
“Air Niugini regrets the inconvenience to the travelling public, however safety of operations remains the primary concern.
“These runway works are expected to last approximately two months, depending on weather conditions.”
Meanwhile, the airline clarified that the routes on which special fares were offered were rotated each week depending on which routes had the most spare capacity available.
Air Niugini was responding to customer feedback about its weekly Tuesday online air fare promotions.
