Listening to a legend …

Sports

Rugby league great Darren Lockyer was in Goroka over the weekend as a special guest of the Eastern Highlands Super 8s grand final and when the locals found out the Queensland and Brisbane Broncos legend was in town they came in their hundreds to catch a glimpse of one of the most popular NRL players of the last 20 years.
Lockyer was a guest speaker during the finals ceremony at a packed National Sports Institute.
The Super 8s was the initiative of the Member for Kainantu and Minister for Mining Johnson Tuke.
The competition has grown from strength to strength since 2018 with the inclusion of all eight districts of Eastern Highlands and three neighbouring guest districts — Chuave in Chimbu, Markham in Morobe and Usino-Bundi in Madang.
