GEREHU Offseason Rugby League has erected fencing around its field at the Gerehu Sports Centre in Port Moresby.
The fencing cost K2,500.
President Frank Kurum said his administration would also put up a rectangular stand to accommodate competition officials including the announcer and technical officials.
Kurum said the league was waiting to hear from NCD Governor on assistance promised.
“We have many school students playing in our competition and we want to run this league well for everyone’s benefit,” he said.
Kurum said the Gerehu league was also a weekend community event drawing spectators from all around the suburb and other parts of the city.
He said the competition was sustained from the team registration fees and that was why they needed Parkop to help as they did not have a corporate sponsor for the offseason.
Kurum said the Gerehu league was a great breeding ground for talent from the suburb and had also given the community a unifying activity.
He said his administration had worked hard to maintain the venue and field and called on fans and supporters to be responsible in their disposal of rubbish and how they used the facility.
