PAPUA New Guinea international Garry Lo says he is hopeful of wearing the Kumuls jumper again this year when the national men’s rugby league team meet Fiji in a Pacific Test in Sydney, Australia, on June 25.
The Rabaul Gurias recruit said earlier this year that his decision to join the Agmark-sponsored Digicel Cup side was his best chance to maintain his form and retain his spot in the Kumuls squad.
“I have no doubt about representing PNG again this year,” he said.
“I’m happy that I made the right choice to move to the Gurias.
“The Gurias are one of the most disciplined Digicel Cup side.
“I’m pretty sure their reputation will help me earn a spot in the Kumuls squad this year.” The former SP Hunter sat out last season after refusing to take the Coronavirus vaccine.
Lo said he was excited to be back in the Digicel Cup.
Lo said it was up to players to prove themselves to earn selection into the Kumuls squad.
“Although I’ve missed the 2021 Digicel Cup campaign, I’ve regained my form for this season,” he said.
“My performances for the first two rounds have been good.
“It shows that I am on the right track now.
“All I have to do is to maintain my form every weekend.
“We all understand that selection into the Kumuls will be tough, but it’s up to us players to earn the jumper.”
