FORMER Castleford Tiger Garry Lo is excited to lead his Mt Hagen team, Gomis Panthers, in the upcoming Southern Highlands Nines rugby league tournament.
The tournament, initially set for next month in Mendi, was postponed to January due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Lo told The National yesterday that he enjoyed his time with his old team. “We are excited about the nines tournament and I look forward to be part of my old club,” said the one-time SP Hunter.
“We were prepared as we thought the tournament would go ahead as scheduled.
“But unfortunately, it had been differed to January.
“But we will continue to train and prepare for the event.” Meanwhile, the Kumul No.256 said he was yet to decide on his future in rugby league.
Lo was among the few Digicel Cup players who opted not to be vaccinated when the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League made it mandatory for all inter-city players to be jabbed.
Fellow Kumul and Port Moresby Viper Stargroth Amean also missed the 2022 season for the same reason.
Lo was part of the Waghi Tumbe pre-season squad early this year, but he pulled out when the vaccination policy was rolled out.
“I am yet to decide on whether I should play in the Digicel Cup,” he said.
“I’ll just let this offseason pass. I will try enjoy the Southern Highlands Nines and then I’ll probably decide early next year.”
