Local items attractive
THE Government’s view on facilitating local content is becoming an attractive business model, PNG Business Council executive director Douveri Henao says.
Henao said many large businesses were keen on this.
Responding to questions from participants at the Startup 2019 Convention on Wednesday, Henao attributed the notion of local content to the City Pharmacy Ltd Group.
“For example Mahesh Patel and City Pharmacy source 100 per cent of their vegetables in Papua New Guinea, he does not import,” he said.
“Mahesh Patel has made a decision that his supermarkets will have PNG content.”

All retailers must also do the same in supporting local farmers. Government must support local farmers to improve quality of farm produce and help transport produce to towns/cities.
Government must immediately ban all food items, drinks and dairy products, clothing, building materials etc from Asia esp China.
Many of these products are of poor quality/standards, faked and some likely to contain harmful substances that are of health risks to our people when consumed or come in contact.
Outlets that do not comply should be forced to shutdown and owners deported immediately.
