Lockdown affecting people

Letters

THIS is the impression I am getting from leaders all over the world.
They have shut down markets and we don’t know how people will survive.
If the coronavirus don’t kill them, they might die of hunger or poor immune with lack of vitamins and minerals needed to fight the virus. These minerals and vitamins comes from organic food sold in the markets.
People from the temperate climates that are the ones hit hard.
This may be due to the ability of the virus to live in the cold and attack people.
Hence, those from African countries are not being severely impacted as much as those from the temperate climates such as Spain, France, China and others.
The lockdown in Bougainville is for three weeks while the PNG Government declared two weeks lockdown.
This lockdown has to be carefully assessed because it has huge implications not only economically but also socially and health-wise.
We have to consider the lack of production at both the macro and micro level.
For a small economy of Bougainville, this is an overkill and is not a good sign of the leadership.
We need leaders with cool heads and not with kneejerk reactions.
For one thing, we need to assess what sort of people are being infected by this virus.
For me, this is mostly the international travellers who are being infected overseas.
Hence, if we close our borders, we can survive the deadly virus.
If one person has been infected overseas, we need to monitor that person’s health and their movements to reduce the possibility of infecting other people.
If we are really scared of this virus, there are many diseases and accidents that can kill us.
Don’t worry too much.
For us Christians, God has created each of us for a reason and has plans for everyone.
Hence, if we have not fulfilled our mission, I don’t think that God will be willing to take us back yet.
If we have faith, we shouldn’t panic and worry too much.
For the egocentric leadership in Bougainville, please have some common sense and allow the people to do some marketing for their survival.
For the banks too, they are our gardens because we keep our money there.
If we don’t have access to our money, starvation may kill us instead of the coronavirus.

  • I believe that above statement is very true but the person who has that hint should be placed or inform in one of the medias but he failed so it’s too late to make a decision again.

What we need to do is just prepare our selfs for the covid- 19. Keep calm and pray so that we will be safe from coronavirus.
