THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD bowler Joel Lohia recorded figures of 3/13 to help Raukele claim a B-Grade upset win over ladder-leading Friends in the Lae Cricket Association T20 competition on Sunday.
Due to wet weather, both sides were allocated only 15 overs each in the Pacific Cargo Services-sponsored competition.
Raukele won the toss and elected to field first. Friends only managed 61 runs after 15 overs with one batsman in hand.
Graeme Gangloff led Friends’ batting assault with 14 runs while his teammates fell to easy wickets.
Raukele bowlers Raymond Mogina and Jeremiah Julius took two wickets each and Tupou Amini Jr bagged one.
Raukele openers Wani Ellison (17) and 12-year-old Rupert Kavavae (4) frustrated Friends bowlers. Teammate Richard Kwara bagged 18 runs off 11 balls before he was bowled by Karo Kauna.
The young Raukele outfit passed Friends’ total in 13.2 overs to upset the ladder leaders who were previously undefeated.
