Look into EHP hospital board

Letters

THE board of any Provincial Health Authority (PHA) is the overall governing body of health system in that province.
The board should not be appointed by the chief executive officer (CEO) and his management team nor the people working in the Health Department.
All shortlisted candidates should be done by the governor, the health minister and the National Executive Council (NEC).
Anything that is done outside of this process should be deemed illegal and whoever sees fit to abuse this process should be heavily punished.
We have an issue in Eastern Highlands where the CEO of the Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority allegedly reappointed the previous board members who took their oath on May 30, 2019.
This is a serious matter and obviously without any doubt, one of the stones yet to be turned by the Public Accounts Committee outside Port Moresby.
This matter was brought before the floor of parliament by EHP governor Peter Numu.
Former minister for Health and HIV/AIDS Elias Kapavore assured the governor that he would revisit the process involved in the appointment.
But six months lapsed and nothing has been done on this corrupt act.
We the people of Eastern Highlands, are still waiting patiently.
We invite the PAC and Health and HIV/AIDS Minister Jelta Wong to look into this matter.
