Look into police brutality

Letters

REPORTS about police brutality in Papua New Guinea is above the routine.
It reflects that police officers have no respect for the country.
Police are commissioned by the commissioner and given responsibilities to uphold and reinforce the law.
We don’t have modified laws.
We have mother laws adapted from the Royal Family of England.
Some laws are designed by the Government of Papua New Guinea.
Remember, everyone is under the law. No one is above the law, even the prime minister.
But in PNG, police over rule citizens.
Why is the government letting police officers continue to act like bosses everywhere?
The Police Department has to be a well-disciplined force. Be a role model to the citizens.
We hear reports of police road blocks, begging offenders for money, act as traffic officers and police brutality reports by drunk officers.
Police Department, do you have laws?
Are you appreciating your profession as police officers? No. You don’t act as police officers.
You act as drunkards. You act as wild dogs. We don’t even want to come closer to you.
Respect the laws please. We are tired of police brutality.
Enough is enough.
We urge concerned authorities to look into the Police Department and discipline rogue officers accordingly.
If you have been involved in Police brutality, shame on you.
