LOSING candidates in the Finschhafen seat have been urged to work with MP Theo Zurenuoc in developing the district.
Zurenuoc is also the new Speaker of the National Parliament.
Steven Andambo, president of the Millennium Good Governance, a non-governmental organisation, came to Zurenuoc’s defence yesterday after a media report yesterday stated the MP was likely to forget the people of Finschhafen and concentrate on the national issues, now that he has taken up the speaker’s role.
Andambo said the losing candidates should leave political differences aside and assist the MP to bring services and development to the people of Finschhafen.
“I urged the 30 candidates who ran in the election apart from the vocal leaders, to forget the past and focus on tomorrow,’’ he said.
“If they have any grudges against Zurenuoc, they must wait until 2017 to challenge him in the polling booth.”
Andambo said the new speaker, Zureunuoc had a huge task to protect the integrity of the Constitution and maintain neutrality in parliament.
“Let’s focus on the future,’’ he said.
