Lutheran women hail pioneer leaders

Lutheran women in Eastern Highlands have acknowledged pioneer women leaders during their district conference last week.
The conference, hosted by the Tarabo Circuit women in Okapa, appreciated seven of the 10 circuit pioneer women leaders in the church.
The women were given gifts in appreciation for their leadership and work.
Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG (ELC-PNG) Tarabo Circuit women leader Toke Igemo said the women’s conference started in 2010 after a division within the church.
“We thank the Lord for holding us together despite divisions in the past,” Igemo said.
“We also thank those simple women who stood firm during that time. We are prepared to expand the gospel through the women’s ministry in Papua New Guinea.”
Many important issues affecting the church and women were discussed during the conference.
Awareness on social and health issues was also carried out during the conference.
Women from 10 church circuits of Asaroka, Hunguko, Bena, Goroka town, Fayantina, Rongo, Marawaka, Ramu, Agotu and the hosts attended the week-long conference.
The theme of the conference was ‘God has a work for me’.
