THE Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG (ELCPNG) headquarters at Ampo in Lae housing the office of the head bishop is set to be extended.
This was made known during a ground breaking ceremony last Friday and was announced by ELCPNG Head Bishop Rev Jack Urame.
Urame said all the previous building plus the upcoming ones were built through sacrifice and commitment by the church.
“The buildings here are the fruit of sacrifice,” he said.
“The extension of the building will create enough space for the workers and also for conferences which the current building does not have.
“The first building was a colonial house. The structure is too small and the new one we build will be for our children.” Urame said the extension would house the bishop’s office, a conference room and other offices.
He said the extension would help ease the burden of spacing in the current building.
Meanwhile, Urame said preparations for the ELCPNG 2020 Synod in Boana was progressing well.
“Boana district is prepared for that.,” he said.
“All other preparations will be completed in time with the conference hall, accommodation, water, sanitation all ready.
“We are expecting more than 10,000 people for the event.”
Urame said delegates from the church’s 17 districts were expected to attend with 50 delegates each.
“The road to Boana will be maintained and will be in order before the meeting.”
