THE act of unity shown by Southern Strikers FC as a National Soccer League club to help Madang FC with its fundraiser tomorrow has been applauded by the Madang franchise.
Southern Strikers are co-hosting the fundraiser which will help Madang FC take part in the OFC Champions League in New Zealand from (Feb 25-March 4).
Madang FC board chairman Dr Miok Komolong described the act as a model of what football can do in terms of promoting unity.
“Southern Strikers have helped us using their network in Port Moresby to organise a fundraiser so we can raise funds to help us get to New Zealand for the OFC Champions League,” Dr Komolong said.
“The help from them shows us that under the name of football, we can work together and promote unity so we thank Southern Strikers for their generosity.”
Southern Strikers along with Madang FC two weeks ago also worked together contributing part of their gate takings at the Laiwaden Oval in Madang town to donate to the people of Kadovar Island in East Sepik province affected by volcanic activity.
Southern Strikers coach Margaret Aka commended the act of generosity by the management of her club.
“What Southern Strikers are doing is a good example of promoting togetherness through football and it’s great to see.”
