Madse bag K1,200 in soccer comp

MADSE beat Nabasa 5-2 in the Madang Rooke’s Marine pre-season football grand final last weekend.
The Madang Soccer Association kicks off its season in two weeks’ time after a successful end to the pre-season.
In the men’s division, Madse (Madang Sepik) made it two-straight triumphs after also winning their first pre-season title last year.
Madse bagged K1,200 from the K5,200 sponsorship by business houses in Madang.
Rooke’s Marine and Sigma Constructions donated K3,000 and K2,200 respectively. Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League players Emmanuel Airem, Stahl Gubag and Alwin Komolong competed in the tournament.
Association president and Sigma Constructions owner Siegfried Beschel was pleased with the pre-season with 18 men’s and six women’s teams showcasing their skills.
In the women’s grand final, Tusbab’s Women’s National Soccer League players helped them beat Centres 2-0. Lusco finished in third spot.
Meanwhile, Logaw finished third in the men’s division.
