Magpies coach aware of threat from other teams

SIPORO Magpies coach Colin Geno says every team competing in the Southern Nines should not be underestimated as they are all battling for major honours in the rugby league tournament.
The SP Sports Awards people’s choice winner, arguably the best nines coach in the region, said all 76 teams were better prepared this year compared with previous campaigns.
“We should not underestimate the rural-based teams as they have been preparing for weeks in a bid to topple the top sides,” Geno said.
“Never underestimate because that’s when they are most dangerous. If you don’t give them the respect they deserve, they can hurt you. They are determined to win like any other side.
“This was what I told my players. We shouldn’t relax and think that we’ll win easily. This is not the case now as all the teams are here to play serious football and are good enough to win the tournament.”
Geno warned his players to maintain their structures as they aim to win the country’s biggest nines tournament.
“We must always stick to our game plan and structures.”
