Man accused of murdering friend remains in custody

A MURDER suspect from Goilala’s Aiwara village, Central, was remanded by Central Committal Court Magistrate Alex Kalandi yesterday.
Kalandi arraigned Meirei Moroi, 24, for the murder of Kamo Kaua at Motumotu village in Brown River, Central.
It was alleged that Moroi, last Dec 7, between 12am and 12.30am, and his friends, including Kaua (deceased) were drinking homebrew that they bought at Hanuabada village.
Kaua left the group to relieve himself and when he returned, Moroi allegedly punched him several times in the chest without any reason.
Kaua was also kicked in the chest and grabbed by the neck and punched several more times.
He was then lifted and thrown to the ground where he allegedly died.
The matter was reported to the Central criminal investigation division where Moroi was arrested and admitted to killing Kaua.
The case was adjourned to Feb 13.
