A 34-YEAR-old Filipino man has appeared at Waigani committittal court charged with raping a woman in Port Moresby two months ago.
Magistrate Danny Wakikura after reading the charge to Alvin John Casilisian, of Oriental village in Mindoro, Philippines, said Casilisian could be out on K1,000 bail.
Wakikura allowed Casilisian’s bail following a no objection to bail from the police prosecutor.
Prosecutor Sergeant Peter Samgy said they would not object to Casilisian’s bail because there was no violence used according to the summary of facts.
“His passport was confiscated so he will not be able fly out,” he added.
Samgy then proposed for a K1,000 bail.
Magistrate Wakikura ordered Casilisian to pay the K1,000 and return to the registery with the receipt together with his passport and visa in order for him to be out on bail.
“Your bail conditions will be discussed when you return with the receipt of the bail money,” he said.
