A 28-YEAR-OLD man, charged with molesting and raping a seven-year-old girl, will know his fate when a committal court makes a ruling on July 19.
Magistrate Paul Puri Nii fixed the date for ruling after the man failed to make his submissions when given the opportunity on Monday.
Magistrate Nii also extended his remand.
The man is an unemployed single male from Wabag’s Kombian village in Enga who resided in Port Moreby’s ATS with his brother-in-law.
He went to Murray Barracks and stayed there for a few months to help the girl’s parents.
He is the girl’s mother’s younger brother.
On Aug 17, between midnight and 1am, he allegedly went into the girl’s bedroom.
The girl was fast asleep and then she felt pain on her vagina.
She then called his name and he allegedly turned around and walked out of the room.
The girl then informed her parents and they chased him out of their house.
He then returned to ATS.
The matter was reported to the police and he was later arrested and charged with one count each of molest and rape.
