A 42-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly used a knife to slash his brother-in-law to death over a loan in Port Moresby in 2020 was committed to stand trial in the National Court.
Waigani Committal Court magistrate Paul Nii, on Monday, found sufficient evidence to commit Mosses Wai, from Tari’s Hoip village in Hela, for allegedly killing Solomon Toivita who is from Gulf.
Magistrate Nii said all witnesses correctly linked Wai to the murder.
“Therefore, evidence is sufficient to make a case against Wai.”
Magistrate Nii adjourned the matter to Jan 24 for court listings and ordered Wai to remain in custody.
Police alleged that in March 2015, Toivita borrowed money from Wai and promised to pay back in a fortnight’s time.
Wai then continuously reminded Toivita to repay the money.
Wai reported the matter to police but Toivita did not turn up at the police station and it angered Wai.
On Jan 15, 2020, Wai allegedly went to Toivita’s house and asked Toivita to come out and see him.
