A-25-YEAR-OLD-MAN charged with raping his girlfriend was read his charges by Magistrate Tracy Ganaii at the Waigani Committal Court on Friday and told to return to court next month.
Brent Alu, of Banz village in North Waghi, Jiwaka, was charged with three counts of rape of a girl whom he had been in a relationship with but never encountered sexual relations with until the incident.
It was alleged that between June 20 and 21, at 15-Mile Police Barracks and 9-Mile NPF Compound, Alu raped his girlfriend.
Alu was allegedly seen with the girl at Gordon at around 11.25am.
He had called her via mobile phone and met her at the Gordon bus stop before going to 15-Mile.
Alu was later apprehended and transported to the Boroko police station where he was formally arrested and charged with three counts of rape under section 347 (1) of the Criminal Code Act.
He was later released on a K800 bail with conditions that he would reside at his uncle Fabian Pok’s house at 9-Mile NPF Compound, would not commit any indictable offence while on bail, would not consume alcohol, would report to the committal court registry fortnightly and attend court when his case was called. His case was adjourned to Aug 28.
