THE Waigani Committal Court has committed a man charged with armed robbery to stand trial in the National Court.
Shane Kesiko, from Ijivitari district in Oro, allegedly held up Sarah Leosi on February 28 at knife point and took her bag with valuables inside valued at almost K500.
Senior Magistrate Cosmas Bidar said there was sufficient evidence to commit the case to trial.
“The accused has also admitted to committing the crime when he was arrested and charged by police,” Bidar said.
It is alleged that on February 28, Kesiko held up Leosi by threatening her with a kitchen knife.
He took her bag which contained a Westpac card, K90 cash, a mobile phone worth K299 and other items with a total value of K499.
Bidar said Kesiko told police after he was arrested that he was not planning to take Leosi’s bag but only her phone.
He ordered Kesiko to appear on July 11 at the National Court for listing.
Kesiko is out on bail.
