A MAN was arrested and charged with cybercrime for allegedly spreading false information and sending threatening messages to a businessman in Enga.
Criminal Investigation Division officer Insp Robert Wane said the suspect, Richard Kyakawa Pyawa, was now before the court.
He said Pyawa, from Kompiam, Enga, allegedly posted false and misleading information on Facebook which caused the victim’s family, business partners and his supporters distress. The victim, former politician and businessman, Thomas Amaiu, said the information affected his reputation and that nearly triggered a volatile situation in the province.
Wane said there was enough evidence including the posts and threatening text messages to charge Pyawa.
