A 21-YEAR-OLD man was charged in the Central committal court last Tuesday with raping a 13-year-old girl while under the influence of alcohol on Dec 19.
Magistrate Alex Kalandi read out the charges to Ezekiel Aisa Inee, from Kairuku’s Inauaia village in Central, and fixed April 22 for mention.
Inee was alleged to have chased away a boy who was walking with the girl at about noon on Dec 9 in Kairuku’s Lepo village, before he allegedly took the girl to some bushes to rape her.
Inee was also seen behaving drunkenly.
It was alleged that the girl was having a stroll down the road with her boyfriend when Inee approached them.
Inee allegedly shouted explicit language against them and chased the boy away.
He allegedly told the girl that he would report to her family for walking with the boy.
He allegedly asked the girl for favours before pulling her away to the nearby bushes.
The girl screamed for help but Inee allegedly closed her mouth, removed her clothes and allegedly raped her.
It was alleged that the girl told Inee to stop but he refused and kept on going until he was done.
The girl reported the incident to her relatives who took the matter to the village magistrate.
She also received medical treatment.
