A man has pleaded guilty to killing his wife after he caught her having sex with another man in his house at Tambul, Western Highlands.
Defendant Lucas Luke told
Mt Hagen National Court yesterday that he killed his wife unintentionally. He said the killing happened as he was trying to retaliate after the man caught having sex with his wife, swung a bush knife at him, cutting his forehead.
Luke told the court that his wife was used as a human shield by the man.
He said he picked up his bush knife, which he left at the side of the door and, swung at his attacker.
Luke said the man took cover behind his wife.
He said the bush knife landed on her face and resulted in her death.
Luke said the man then tried to attack him with his bush knife.
He left the house and ran for his life. Luke escaped to Wapenamenda in Enga on the same night.
Justice Robert Lindsay adjourned the case to March 22 for the public solicitor and prosecutor to make their submissions on the sentence.
