Man in court for assault

A 30-YEAR-OLD Bangladeshi man accused of improperly touching a girl appeared before a court.
Milon Mia, from Dhaka, appeared before Magistrate Cosmas Bidar at the Waigani Committal Court and charged with unlawful and indecent assault of an 11-year-old girl.
The alleged assault occurred on Aug 1, around 7.40pm in Lobu St at Morata One, when the victim went to Mia’s shop.
While the victim was trying to buy Twisties, Mia, who was alleged to have been under the influence of alcohol, approached her and indecently touched her.
The victim ran out of the shop in tears.
Mia was arrested after a complaint was lodged with the police and appeared in court on a bail of K1,000.
Bidar ordered Mia, who was in the country on a work visa, to surrender his passport to the court.
Mia’s bail was extended and the matter adjourned to Oct 24.
