A 22-YEAR-OLD man is facing an armed robbery charge at the Waigani Committal Court for allegedly stealing K98,000 belonging to the National Forestry Authority in Port Moresby.
Magistrate Paul Puri Nii read out the charges to Jack Wingti, from Dei in Western Highlands and adjourned the case to Dec 15.
He said police investigators would be given a month to complete their investigation and for the prosecutor to present the evidence.
The case was adjourned to Dec 15. It was alleged that on Oct 28, 2021, around 12pm, PNG Forest Authority clerical assistant Belinda Robby went to the bank and cashed several cheques totaling K98,000.
She was allegedly followed back to the PNG Forestry Authority office by Wingti, who was armed with a gun, and an accomplice where she was accosted in the parking lot and robbed of the money.
Wingti was identified and arrested on Nov 4 at a Gerehu betel nut market after a year.
