THE Lae committal court yesterday found enough evidence against a man to send him to a trial while striking out his co-accused’s case on the same charge of causing grievous bodily harm to another person.
Senior magistrate Pious Tapil told Peter Kepirili, from Korkor village, Tambul, Western Highlands, that there was no evidence provided against him, struck out his case and ordered his bail money be refunded.
Magistrate Tapil, in committing Enoch Kepirili, 29, from Korkor village as well, told him that court had found enough evidence to substantiate the elements of the charge against him.
“Whatever statement you want to give, you can make it at the National Court mention on Dec 6,” Magistrate Tapil told Enoch. The police alleged that on Feb 2 at around 7.30am, Enoch attacked one Buds Bilamo and his family members at Igam Block in Lae. During a confrontation with the Bilamos, Buds Bilamo came in the way to stop the parties from fighting each other when he was chopped on his left hand – allegedly by Enoch.
Police arrested Enoch and charged him under Section 319 of the PNG Criminal Code Act, Chapter 262.
