DAVID MANAU, from East Sepik, is the Petroleum and Energy Department secretary for a period of four years.
This followed a gazettal notice on Monday which also revoked the acting secretary position previously held by Lohial Nuau.
Nuau had been acting for the past nine months until last December when cabinet announced Manau as acting secretary for the department.
Petroleum and Energy Minister Kerenga Kua had said Manau would have to help address some outstanding issues in the department.
Kua said the decision of cabinet to appoint Manau earlier as the acting secretary was merit- based and in line with the Public Service Commission process of appointment.
