Manus police recapture escapee

AN escapee was arrested on Manus in an otherwise quiet repentant day, police said.
Provincial police commander Chief Insp David Yapu said: “Police arrested a few people for minor street offences, including an escapee from the police cells who was on the run for some time.
“Police also arrested four students from Manus Secondary and Elcom Secondary for possession of marijuana.
“Police raided a village at Tingou in the Tetidu local level government area and uprooted marijuana plants but the main suspect escaped to another village.
“Two people from the province were charged by the fisheries enforcement team for harvesting sea cucumbers prior to official date for harvesting.
“Both men pleaded guilty and were fined K1,000 and K1,300 respectively in default six months jail.”
