THE people of Maprik in East Sepik have called on the educated to help Maprik MP John Simon to develop the province.
They want them and the candidates who contested the seat to put their differences aside and support the MP deliver the needs to the people and stop misleading the public.
Spokesman James Maulungei, from Tamaui in the Yamil Tamaui LLG, said people had opted for a change as they saw Simon as a leader who could deliver the goods.
He said Maprik had been denied basic services for more than 50 years and Simon’s election brought new hope to people.
“The people have seen the outstanding qualities and the tireless work of Simon in improving the lives of the people of Maprik and they have finally voted for him,” Maulungei said.
“Simon deserved the victory.
He is a young leader with vision, is innovative, a person who has his heart in the right place and someone who can deliver to the people.
This is the kind of leadership that lacked over the years.”
Maulungei was against personal attack on the new MP in the media by candidate Vincent Yangwari, saying it was childish and uncalled for.
“He should come out and work with the new member to help the people instead of personally attacking him,” he said.
