Students from Maprik, East Sepik, attending the Kelua Teachers’ Colleges in Western Highlands received K21,000 on Thursday – thanks to MP John Simon.
Out of the total, K20,000 was for their fees and K1000 for the students to open their bank accounts.
Simon said the bank accounts would help the students put aside money for essential needs like stationery.
He praised the college for its well-kept yards and new infrastructural developments.
According to Kelua Teachers’ College principal Wesley Kuria, such a surprise visit by a parliamentarian was encouraging.
“We are grateful for MPs who can contribute and invest towards human resource development in the country,” he said.
