Marape: Stay strong this Easter

Main Stories

PRIME Minister James Marape has encouraged Papua New Guineans to stand strong during the state of emergency as the country heads into Easter.
He urged Christians in the country not to lose sight of the meaning of Easter and take the time to remember Jesus Christ’s suffering and death.
“I know PNG is facing the struggles of health and economy and a lack of development but with all these challenges, we have always maintained our Christian identity,” he said.
“Amidst many of our own personal and national needs, we must extend a hand of love to those in need among us.”
Marape called on the people to practice compassion, care, mercy and tolerance in the spirit of love and peace to help get through this “tough time” as the country responded to the Covid-19 threat. He said the trials and hardship being faced and yet to come would test the country and its people but they needed to remain faithful and resolute and support each other through it in the same way Jesus was able to during his suffering, death and resurrection.
“That is the blessed Hope this Easter must reminds us of,” Marape said.
“I wish you all a safe and meaningful Easter and I look forward to our Government serving you all better but Jesus and eternity is the greater hope you all must long for.”
