Marape wants solution for housing needs

NATIONAL Housing Corporation must provide answers and solutions to the housing needs of this country in 10 years, Prime Minister James Marape says.
Marape said NHC and National Housing Estate (NHE) Limited would be the test organisation the State would use in the public and private-partnership to meet the needs of the people.
“We want to ensure that this organisation serves the needs of Papua New Guineans who are at the lowest level of employment,” he said.
“They don’t have proper housing and so we must find an answer for them.
“If they are employed, the government must have an answer to their housing needs such as low-cost housing for our low income earners as well as up the rank and file for every citizen; 10 years from now every worker must have a roof over his or her head,” Marape said.
He said the state would partner districts and provincial administrations to have housing programmes available for rural citizens as well.
“We will use this organisation to revitalise a housing programme for the country.
“They have a substantial asset base that has been eroded over the last few years and we asked them to deploy a programme that can be of less burdensome to the national budget.
