IT is the moment that couples cherish for eternity but Kumuls captain Rhyse Martin will have to wait a little longer to tie the knot due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The former Canterbury Bulldogs back-rower, who joined English Super League side Leeds Rhinos in a 2019 mid-season transfer, said he and his fiancée Vanessa Maiolo had planned to get married at the end of this year.

But the indefinite suspension of the United Kingdom’s (UK) premier rugby league competition had forced the pair to reschedule the ceremony.
“The season may continue until December and it’s (wedding) not possible,” said the Kumul No.262, whose father is from Hula in Rigo, Central.
“We’ve looked at a few dates in January but we might not be able to really lock it in if the season is going to run until January.
“It was a difficult decision but we had to cancel it. It’s sad.
“I think we are just going to get married over here and have a big party with our families when we visit Australia. Vanessa is upset but there’s nothing we can do about it.”
Meanwhile, the 27-year old said they were doing well in the lockdown in UK and were hoping for normalcy to be restored soon.
“We’ve been in lockdown for six weeks now,” said the PNG international, who played 25 games for the Bulldogs in the NRL.
“They (British government) are reviewing the situation every three weeks. Fingers crossed everything returns to normal.”
