YANGORU-Saussia MP Richard Maru has welcomed Lae mobile squad MS13 being based in the district for the next three months.
Maru said the move was to ensure law and order was maintained as the multimillion kina Sepik chicken, grain and cocoa project would start the construction phase in the coming weeks.
He urged the team to ensure protection of State assets.
“You are not here for a holiday, I want action and I want results,” Maru said.
“We know Lae has improved in law and order and this is attributed in part to the Lae police command, discipline and culture. So we’ve brought you here to see if you can make a difference.”
He instructed police not to engage in any out-of-court settlements or encourage any police mediation.
Section commander Sgt William Wimbi said several criminals were arrested and assured Maru that law breakers would be locked up for a start.
Special Sepik Economic Zone project implementation manager Thomas Yehiwara said there was zero tolerance for attempts to disrupt the progress of the project in the district and province.
