UOG will not increase tuition fees this year, says VC

The University of Goroka (UOG) will not increase its tuition fees this year, according to vice-chancellor Dr Musawe Sinebare.
Only final-year students enroling in the teaching profession would be required to pay K25 for teacher provisional registration certificate and K50 transcription fee.
Due to fraud allegations against certain University of Goroka students last year, students will now be required to pay funds into their own accounts and access then through Eftpos machines at the bursary office during registration.
Registration for students — both new and continuing — is from Feb 4-10, and orientation for new students from Feb 11-15.
Feb 18-22 is registration week for year one and two students, and registration for third and fourth year is Feb 25-28.
A K200 fee will be charged on anyone coming after Mar 4 when semester one begins.
According to student administration director, Pascalis Mape, a total of 60 applicants had been selected to do higher degrees this year with one to do a PhD programme.
“We have a new programme within the school of humanities (executive masters of business administration — leadership) of which 13 will be pioneering that programme for higher deegrees this year,” he said.
“A total of 212 applicants, with other content degrees but wanting to qualify with a teaching qualification, will join the post-graduate diploma in education programme.”
Mape said additional information could be sourced online for the 2019 approved fee structure and the 2018 exclusion and termination list on the website www.unigoroka.ac.pg
The campus has a zero-tolerance policy on alcohol with a breathalyser being bought for this purpose.

As we are running out of time due to the late shortlistings of the continuing students thesas list by which our preparation is so tight. We want to acknowledge the Administration for giving us ample time to prepare.
