Masere not doing enough

Letters

I WANT to challenge Ako Ao’s letter in Wednesday’s The National congratulating Ijivitari MP Richard Masere for constructing state-of-the-art bus stop shelters in Popondetta town.
I saw only one in front of old Best Buy Oro Bay bus stop and two under construction beside Wing-Hay Supermarket.
The bus stops are crowded with street sellers.
The newly-built rest house is filthy and there is rubbish everywhere.
And no one is taking ownership of the town and the facilities.
Bus stops are for travellers to rest in but that is not happening in Popondetta.
Street sellers selling water, cigarettes and betel nuts usually occupy them.
We don’t need to congratulate Masere for such services.
People need tangible services such as healthcare, roads and bridges.
Masere has not done anything good for his people and here we have people congratulating him for constructing bus stops when it is almost election time.
He also bought PMV trucks and gave to his voters in the urban local level government.
The rest of Ijivitari is waiting to be served.
His campaign strategy of “removing sago leaves and replacing them with roofing iron” is not going as planned.
This is a shame and he won’t deceive the people of Ijivitari.
Come out and do some actual work.
