Mautana Roosters open round six with victory

MAUTANA Roosters opened round six of the Morata Offseason Rugby League competition with a 16-0 win over KK Vikings in the women’s division in Port Moresby on Sunday.
Despite the slippery conditions at the Kone Tigers Oval, the Roosters clicked in attack with halfback and captain Josephine Ipato leading the way.
The Roosters pack gained valuable ground and their backline finished off, signalling a turnaround in their season as they continued their surge towards the finals.
Meanwhile, defending champions M3 Bulldogs were held to a scoreless draw by Megusa Sisters.
The talented Bulldogs — boasting Papua New Guinea Orchid Roswita Kapo, Vanessa Palme and other senior players from Port Moresby Rugby Football League club Paga Panthers — were unable to break the Sisters defence. “It was an experience for new players to wear boots and play in the competition,” league president Samson Metofa said.
“The majority of players are still learning the game.
“There is always room for improvement.”
